A Wister man was injured in an auto accident Wednesday morning on Highway 271, approximately one mile north of Summerfield.

Josh Lewis, 25, of Wister was transported by LeFlore County EMS to Mercy Hospital in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He was admitted in stable condition with multiple injuries.

He was driving north, when the vehicle departed the road to the left. He overcorrected and the vehicle overturned. He was ejected an unknown distance, according to the accident report.

The accident cause was inattention.

The vehicle was equipped with seat belts, which were not in use. The vehicle’s airbag did not deploy.

The accident was investigated by Trooper Jason Waits, who was assisted by the LeFlore County Sheriff’s Department, along with the Wister, LeFlore and Summerfield Fire Departments.
