SHAWNEE—Sixth-ranked Wister got solid pitching from Scotty Gibson and Cash Balentine to knock off third-ranked Latta, 4-2, in the 2A state tournament Thursday afternoon.
The Wildcats, 20-6, advance to play Silo, a 4-1 winner over Wyandotte on Friday at noon, also at Shawnee High School. Latta ends its season at 24-6.
Three LeFlore County players were selected to play in the all-state slow-pitch softball game on June 27 in Edmond.
