Heavener Utilities Authority members discussed adding a second meeting each month during Thursday’s meeting.ou
Based on the recent water problems, the HUA decided to hold a special meeting in conjunction with the first City Council meeting on Oct. 3 at 6 p.m.
Rep. Lundy Kiger asked if anything had been found out about recent water line breaks. HUA members said it was almost impossible to determine the cause of a leak or break. Kiger questioned if it could be because of overuse of chemicals.
City Manager Cody Smith said they are still waiting on the DEQ report on the water operations. He also had a company come into check out chemical usage. Smith also said the reports of brown water has gone down, despite the recent water leaks.
Council members adopted a new ordinance concerning yielding to pedestrians in crosswalks and also turned down a request by David Tamplin for the city to pay to repair retaining wall damage at his residence. A bid of $4,500 was turned in from Stilwell Concrete.
