POCOLA—Pocola’s girls blasted Wilburton while the Diggers rallied in the second half to earn a split of Monday’s Black Diamond Conference games.
The Lady Indians scored more points in the first half than Wilburton did in the game for a 58-22 win while the Diggers outscored Pocola 31-19 in a 60-51 victory.
Pocola’s girls, ranked eighth in 3A, got 16 points from Shakyrah Gladness in the blowout win to improve to 18-5. Wilburton, ranked 13th in 3A, was led by Sydnee Vanderburg’s 10 points. The Lady Diggers drop to 15-8.
Pocola’s boys held a 32-29 lead at the half before Wilburton got its offense going. The Diggers (16-7) were led by Levi Knight with 25 points and Kyle McAlester finished with 21.
Pocola (2-19) got 15 points from Derek Carter, Brandon Forrest finished with 12 and Devin Hewes had 10.
Pocola plays at Oktaha on Saturday in a 3A district tournament while Wilburton hosts Antlers on Friday in district tournament play.
