Heavener and Stigler split their Black Diamond Conference games here Friday night.
On senior night, Heavener’s girls won a defensive battle, 44-32, while Stigler’s boys pulled away from Heavener to take a 60-52 win.
The Lady Wolves kept Stigler scoreless for the first seven minutes of the fourth quarter and only gave up three points in the period. The Lady Panthers only scored 10 points in the second half after trailing 23-22 at the half.
Sammi Jo Taylor hit a pair of 3’s in the third quarter to give Heavener some breathing room. Callie Dunigan led Heavener (10-11) with nine points while Shelby Smith and Sydney Crase both had eight. Stigler (6-15) was led by Mattie Self with 10 points.
The Wolves stayed within striking distance after falling behind early, but Heavener could never catch the Panthers.
Heavener (6-14) was led by Connor Place with 16 points, Jordan Terry finished with 13 and Jacob Hill had 10.
Stigler (6-12) got 17 points from Caleb Humphries, Jaxon Calhoun had 13 and Nathaniel Shaffer scored 10.
Heavener closes out the regular season Monday at Poteau before going to Spiro on Friday in the district tournament.
