Heavener schools received a threatening message mentioning Friday during school on Thursday.
School officials sent out information to parents by message Thursday afternoon that said: “This notice is to inform you that HPS received a potential threat mentioning tomorrow’s date. please know that HPS takes school safety seriously and precautions are underway to ensure safety.”
Heavener superintendent Ed Wilson issued the following message:
“HPS did receive a potential threat earlier today … it has been turned over to the local authorities for investigation. HPS along with local law enforcement is taking precautions to ensure student safety. In response, we have informed district parents via automated phone messaging and social media. HPS takes student safety seriously and understands the undo stress this situation has caused. Thank you to our community and to our district patrons in their support of this manner.”
The school has a police officer on staff. Other members of the Heavener Police Department will be at the school for security reasons.
