Seeds were announced Wednesday for the 2018 basketball LeFlore County Tournament which will be held Jan. 15-20.
Heavener is the host of this year’s tournaments. Games on Monday and Tuesday will be played at Heavener, Carl Albert State College and Panama. The semifinals on Thursday and Friday along with Saturday’s finals will be held at Spiro.
Howe’s girls have won the tournament three straight years while the Poteau boys are two-time defending champions.
The top three teams on both brackets receive a first-round bye.
Here are the seeds:
Locations and times will be announced later. First-round matchups for the girls are No. 4 Talihina vs. No. 13 Wister; No. 5 Heavener vs. No. 12 Arkoma; No. 6 Whitesboro vs. No. 11 Bokoshe; No. 7 LeFlore vs. No. 10 Spiro; and No. 8 Cameron vs. No. 9 Panama.
For the boys, opening-round matchups are No. 4 Panama vs. No. 13 Bokoshe; No. 5 Whitesboro vs. No. 12 LeFlore; No. 6 Poteau vs. No. 11 Pocola; No. 7 Heavener vs. No. 10 Arkoma; and No. 8 Wister vs. No. 9 Cameron.
Tuesday’s games for the girls will be No. 1 Howe vs. Cameron/Panama winner; No. 2 Pocola vs. LeFlore/Spiro winner; No. 3 Poteau vs. Whitesboro/Bokoshe winner; and the Talihina/Wister winner playing the Heavener/Arkoma winner.
For the boys, No. 1 Talihina plays the Wister/Cameron winner; No. 2 Howe plays the Heavener/Arkoma winner; No. 3 Spiro plays the Poteau/Bokoshe winner; and the Panama/Bokoshe winner playing the Whitesboro/LeFlore winner.
