POTEAU–The keys to the Poteau National Guard Armory were turned over to Carl Albert State College on December 11, 2017. Col. Mark Clifton and Lt. Col. Cory Newcomb of the Oklahoma National Guard were on hand to make the presentation.
In his comments, Col. Clifton stated the National Guard was at the Poteau Armory for 63 years. He explained that even though the Guard is no longer assigned to the Poteau Armory location, the Oklahoma National Guard is always here for this community.
CASC president Jay Falkner thanked Clifton and Newcomb for the National Guard’s service to Poteau. He also thanked Poteau mayor Jeff Shockley, senator Mark Allen, representative Rick West, and the CASC Board of Regents for their help in transitioning the property from the Guard to CASC.
“I will be working with the CASC Regents at the first of the year to begin implementing a plan for the use of the Armory,” said Falkner. “This building sits in the middle of CASC, and it is our intent to use it in a way that will benefit CASC students.”
