Two LeFlore County men were injured in an auto accident Thursday near Spiro.
Christopher Barnes, 19, of Spiro was driving a 1988 Chevrolet truck when the truck went off the road to the right and Barnes overcorrected and went off the road to the left before the truck rolled one and a half times, coming to rest on its top.
He was ejected from the truck. The accident happened at 9:39 p.m. on U.S. 271 at Lock and Dam Road, three miles east of Spiro.
Barnes was transported to Sparks Hospital in Fort Smith, Arkansas, where he was admitted in serious condition with a head injury.
The passenger in the truck, Dakota Reichard, 20, of Pocola was transported to Mercy Hospital in Fort Smith, Arkansas, where he was treated and released.
Barnes was not using a seat belt while Reichard had his seatbelt on.
The accident was investigated by Trooper Jason Waits of the LeFlore/Latimer County detachment of Troop D. He was assisted by the Spiro Police Department and LeFlore County Sheriff’s office.
