A strange schedule for Week 6 football games as six of the seven games involving LeFlore County teams will be on the road.
The only county team which will play at home is Poteau (4-1, 1-1), which hosts Stilwell (3-2, 0-2). The Pirates are hoping to bounce back after losing at Fort Gibson, 31-28, last week. The Indians started off 3-0 before losing their first two district games against Fort Gibson and Metro Christian.
The game should have plenty of offensive firepower as Poteau averages 46.4 points per game while Stilwell is averaging 44.8.
All of this week’s games are district contests. Heavener visits Roland, Spiro travels to Hugo, Panama goes to Antlers, Pocola takes the road to Warner, Arkoma heads north to Watts and Bokoshe is at Webbers Falls.
Heavener (0-6, 0-2) and Roland (1-4, 0-1) both need a win to stay in playoff contention. The Wolves lost at Eufaula last week while the Rangers played district favorite Stigler close before losing, 27-12.
Spiro finally played a team in its own class and got its first win last week over Wilburton. The Bulldogs (1-4, 1-0) make the long trip to Hugo (2-3, 0-1), which had a bye after dropping its district opener to Wilburton two weeks ago.
Panama and Antlers meet with both teams still hoping to win the district, or at least finish near the top. The Razorbacks (5-1, 1-1) fell at home to Valliant last week, 64-49, while Antlers lost to Hartshorne. Panama defeated Hartshorne while Antlers defeated Valliant two weeks ago, setting up a strange setting.
Pocola (1-4, 0-2) needs to get a district win when the Indians visit Warner (0-5, 0-1). The Indians have lost to the top two teams in the district in Talihina and Gore. Warner has struggled in losing all five games.
Talihina was supposed to have a bye this week, but won at Broken Bow’s JV, 38-20, on Monday.
Arkoma (3-2) and Watts (3-2) open district play on Friday as two of the favorites to win the district championship. The Mustangs are coming off a bye.
In the final game Friday, Bokoshe (1-4, 1-1) will look to stay in the playoff race if the Tigers can win at winless Webbers Falls (0-4, 0-2).
