Three LeFlore County teams won their games Friday night to stay close to the district lead and in the playoff race.
Poteau won at Sallisaw, 25-10, Panama scored a big victory at Wilburton, 47-19, while Talihina remained perfect in district play after a 34-6 win over Gore.
Valliant completed its sweep at LeFlore County teams and handed Spiro its first district loss, 42-32; Muldrow kept Heavener winless with a 42-0 victory (see STORY); Keota moved closer to a district championship after a 22-6 win at Arkoma; Central kept Pocola winless in district play with a 28-16 win; and Paoli cruised past Bokoshe, 46-0.
Poteau scored a couple of late touchdowns to put away the Black Diamonds as Easton Francis scored twice and Jett Pitchford threw touchdown passes of 55 yards to race Williams and 30 yards to Christian Duncan.
The Pirates improve to 6-1 and 3-1 while Sallisaw drops to 1-6 and 1-3. Poteau hosts Tulsa Rogers on Thursday.
Panama moved into a tie for the district lead with the win at Wilburton and Spiro’s loss to Valliant. The Razorbacks improve to 7-1 and 3-1 while the Diggers fall to 3-4 and 1-2. Panama has a home game with Hugo on Thursday.
Talihina got four touchdown passes from Sooner Box in the Golden Tigers’ win over Gore. Box threw two scores to Dylan Blair and another pair to Kariim Byrd. Byrd also scored on a short run as Talihina ups its record to 7-1 and 3-0. Gore drops its second straight to fall to 5-2 and 1-2.
The Golden Tigers host Warner on Thursday.
After previously winning at Heavener and Panama, Valliant completed the sweep of LeFlore County teams with a 42-32 win at Spiro. Valliant improves to 3-5 and 2-2 while the Bulldogs drop to 2-5 and 2-1.
Spiro visits Antlers on Friday.
In a battle of district leaders, Keota outscored Arkoma, 22-6, to move a step closer to another district championship. The Lions are now 4-3 and 2-0 while Arkoma falls to 4-3 and 1-1. The Mustangs visit Cave Springs on Thursday.
Central stayed perfect in district play with the win over Pocola. Central improves to 4-3 and 4-0 in district while the Indians drop to 1-6 and 0-4. Pocola travels to Quinton on Thursday.
Paoli stayed in the hunt for a playoff spot with the win over Bokoshe. The Pugs are 4-3 and 2-2 while Bokoshe falls to 1-6 and 1-3.
Bokoshe goes to Sasakwa on Thursday.
