Interment will follow, under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home.
She passed away Sunday, Oct. 22, 2017 in Purcell and was born May 22, 1939 in Heavener to Carroll and Faye (Walkup) Muse.
Carole began work at an early age to help support the family. This early experience made her a strong advocate for working people. She was a member of the OPEIU Local 381 where she became president and served for eight years. She served as secretary and treasurer for the town of Fanshawe for six years. She was a tireless volunteer for issues and political candidates that supported her cause.
Carole met the love of her life her Senior year at Heavener High School. Doyle and his buddies attended a football game to look at the cheerleaders. Rumor has it that Carole would do a cartwheel and Doyle would toss a nickel. They were married for 53 years at the time of Doyle’s death on March 17, 2011. Every morning they were together Doyle would kiss Carole on the cheek and say “good morning”!
She was also preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Pat Ferguson and Waymeth Stewart; brother, Jay Muse; and great grandson, Kale Foster.
Survivors include her daughters Lea Ann Smedley of Purcell, Terri and Craig Hoisington of Sterling, Virginia, and Kim and John Means of Norman; grandchildren Evans Smedley and wife Shy of Norman, Taylor Smedley, Kellen Smedley and partner Brandon Russo, all of Purcell, Steven Hoisington and partner Megun Lund of Ashburn, Virginia, Lorin Hoisington and partner Andrew Nguyen of Richmond, Virginia, and Charlotte and Julia Means of Norman; great grandchildren Joplin Trent of Purcell, Taj Foster and partner Emily of Norman; brother-in-law, Jim Stewart of Yukon; sisters-in-law, Ruby Muse of Heavener, Dawna Brannon of Fanshawe and Glenda Turner and husband Pat of Texarkana, Arkansas; along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
