WISTER—A Wister man died in a boat wreck Thursday at WisterLake.
Matthew Place, 39, of Wister, died from injuries when the 2014 Ranger boat he was piloting collided with a 2015 Triton boat driven by Martin Dunigan, 43, of Poteau.
Dunigan was transported to Sparks Hospital in Fort Smith, Ark. with a leg injury. He was treated and released.
A passenger, Jason Reeves, 31, of Heavener was not injured.
The two boats collided while traveling in opposite directions while coming around a point. The accident is still under investigation.
The incident was investigated by Trooper Ryan Williams of the Marine Enforcement Division of the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
