HOWE—Jerry Standifer Jr. and Tammy Standifer of Howe were arrested on several counts, including assault on a police officer Sunday night by Howe police chief John Doyle.
Doyle was called to a rent house by occupant Trey Place, who reported that his front door had been kicked in and his property thrown out in the front yard by Standifer, the landlord.
Doyle was told Standifer was on his way to the house and waited several minutes, but Standifer failed to arrive.
A short while later, Doyle was called again by Place, who said Standifer was on his way to the property.
Doyle was at the property when the Standifers arrived at the mobile home Place was renting from Standifer. Standifer drove into the front yard and Doyle advised him to leave.
According to Doyle, Standifer said it was his property and he was going to kick Place’s a**. Doyle got between the two to prevent an incident and Place left.
“Standifer blew up at me and got physical,” Doyle said. “He physically pushed me and said he was going to kick my a**.”
Doyle drew his taser and told Standifer he was under arrest. Doyle said Tammy Standifer hollered at Jerry, asking where the pistol was and she went to the truck and started looking around the truck.
Standifer took off his shirt and came at Doyle, who tased him. Tammy Standifer was on the phone with 911, who was advising her to do what the officer said. She came out of the truck with a wooden board over her head and Doyle told her to drop it, which she eventually did.
