POTEAU–Carl Albert State College has signed its first athlete for the new Viking cross country program.
Zitlalic Aguilar of Western Heights High School in Oklahoma City, signed with Carl Albert State College’s cross country team on May 23.
Aguilar was a four-year letter for the Western Heights Jets in cross country. During her senior season, she helped the Jets win the Suburban Conference championship, as well as earn eighth place at the 5A State Cross Country Meet.
When asked why she chose CASC, Aguilar said, “Being a founding member of the new cross country program is very exciting.”
CASC cross country coach Aaron Emberton said, “CASC is still looking for incoming freshmen to fill up the team, and there are scholarships available to those who qualify. On June 27 at 8 a.m. at the Poteau campus, there will be an open tryout for all who are interested in running for the Vikings next season.”
