Billy Paul Warner passed away May 6, 2017 in Shreveport, La. after a year of battling cancer.
He was predeceased by his wife of 33 years, Carolyn Jo Webb Warner; by his father, William Warner, Jr.; and his mother, Emegene Hamby Warner.
He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Poe Umphress and her husband, Christian of Keller, Texas; son, Christopher Warner and his wife Christina of Haltom City, Texas; brother, Richard Warner and wife Bonnie of Tahlequah; and brother-in-law Dennis Webb and his wife Susan of Shreveport, La.
Papa Bill is also survived by his much-loved “grandbabies” Katherine Leigh Umphress, Lake Sheldon Warner and Lyla Elise Warner, as well as several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Bill’s special friend, Linda Rangel, of Tahlequah for her love, care and companionship during Bill’s last few years.
Bill graduated from Heavener High School in 1966, attended Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, served his country in the U. S. Navy from 1970-1974, and worked for Kansas City Southern Railroad until retiring in 1999.
He enjoyed fishing, visiting with friends, fishing, traveling, fishing, visiting with family-especially the “grandbabies”, and fishing. He loved good food, good martinis and good laughs. He was a kind, funny guy who lived life on his terms, and everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him will miss him dearly.
The family appreciates Hospice of Shreveport-Bossier for their excellent care of Bill during his illness.
In lieu of flowers, and in honor of Bill’s love of fishing, the family invites you to consider a donation to the Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Foundation Youth and Families Fishing Program at www.lawff.org.
In the words of the man himself, “Here we go…”
