The second seeds got the wins and the championship Saturday in the junior high basketball LeFlore County Tournament.
The second-seeded Pocola girls edged top-seeded Howe, 50-41, before the No. 2 Whitesboro boys came from behind to edge No. 1 Spiro, 43-40.
Poteau pulled off the wins in both third-place games. Poteau’s girls nipped Whitesboro, 31-26, while the Pirates ran past Talihina, 56-25.
For fifth place, the LeFlore girls defeated Wister, 33-30, while Heavener’s boys brought home the trophy with a 41-25 decision over Hodgen.
The Monroe girls claimed the consolation championship with a 33-20 win over Shady Point and the Pocola boys edged Panama, 21-19, for the boys’ consolation championship.
