POTEAU—The Poteau girls and Stilwell boys won the 2016 Pirates Cross Country Festival on Saturday at Twyman Park.
Poteau’s girls were first followed by Stilwell, Heavener and Atoka while Stilwell’s boys finished ahead of Clayton and Poteau, which was third.
Despite getting lost on the course, Heavener’s Barbara Johnson easily took first place with a time of 13:53 while Kayleigh Shankle of Poteau was second. Iris Martinez of Heavener was sixth with Kylanna Hardaway of Poteau seventh.
Poteau’s Madison Williamson finished ninth and Mackenzie Williamson came in 12th Also in the top 15 were Heavener’s Kayle Huckaby at 13th and Yisel Martinez was 15th.
For the boys, Wister’s Kolton Lynn was second with a time of 18:11.9 while Poteau’s Jacob Law was sixth and Heavener’s Maliek Lira came in eighth.
Cash Balentine of Wister was 11th with Nathan Binns of Heavener 12th. Poteau’s Kyle Cobb was 13th and teammate Jonathan Diaz was 14th.
For the junior high boys, Heavener’s Elijah Cook was second while Poteau’s Tucker Garrett was fifth, Jacques Adams came in sixth, Gaven Garrett was seventh, Jack Hamrick took eighth, Trey Krebbs was ninth, Logan Walker placed 10th and Zane Hendricks placed 11th.
For the junior high girls, Zoe Nesbitt was first with Mackenzie Chavez third, Ashley Felipe fourth and Emily Gwinn fifth. Heavener’s Vanessa Rumero finished sixth with Poteau’s Phoebe Waldrop seventh, Olivia Brennan eighth and Harlie White ninth.
