By Sen. JOSEPH SILK
I planned on hosting town hall meetings across the district in July, but it ended up being a very busy month so I will be conducting those meetings in August and the first part of September.
I hope you all will attend whichever meeting is closest to you and voice your opinion on whatever matter interests you. I will be publishing the meeting locations and times within the next couple of weeks.
I’ve been busy this month meeting with various members of Senate District 5 to offer my assistance in a several situations, including concerns with area road issues, problems with government agencies, and helping our veterans get the assistance they need.
I truly hope that everyone in southeastern Oklahoma won’t hesitate to contact me if there is anything I can do to help them.
I want all of the citizens of southeastern Oklahoma to know most legislators do listen to constituent concerns and are aware when people contact them. As a legislator, I see firsthand how even as few as 10 or 15 phone calls, letters, or e-mails in a day will gain the attention of lawmakers on a specific issue.
With that being said, there is a crucial matter before us that demands a response. We, the people, must stop the barbaric inhumane practice of abortion and a great place to start is by de-funding Planned Parenthood.
This is within Congress’s power, but our legislators in Washington need to hear the cry of the people to know that they have our support. Congress will be working on the budget soon, and we have the momentum to get this done.
I encourage you to write, call, or e-mail each of our Oklahoma lawmakers today and let your voice be heard:
