The award announced Monday is based on athletic performance, academic achievement and citizenship. Voting is by members of the media and fans.
During the season, Chamberlain broke the NCAA record for home runs and she finished her career with 95. Her record-breaking 91st home run was a grand slam.
For the season Chamberlain hit .399 with 23 home runs and 65 runs batted in and was named first-team All-American for the third time.
