By Sen. JOSEPH SILK
As most of you are probably aware the United States Supreme Court ruled on Friday that the States do not have right to prohibit same-sex marriage. Although I am not really shocked at their ruling, it completely floors me that they have once again overstepped their boundaries given to them by the United States Constitution.
Not only that but the state governments have allowed them to do it; we have again failed to uphold the 10th Amendment, which identifies and is supposed to secure states’ rights.
We live under a government today that has absolutely zero respect for the law, morals or our history and heritage including the U.S. Constitution, even though our legislators and justices have sworn to uphold it.
This has happened because the vast majority of our elected representatives have caved to social pressure of a few radicals that have no education or understanding of what made the United States great.
They may say they agree with the Constitution and biblical principles, but they will never raise a figure to actually fight for them.
A common thought with government officials, community leaders, and even everyday citizens is to just keep their head down and don’t stand up for what’s right because it may be offensive or controversial.
They sometimes deceitfully say that we have more important things to deal with than actively combating “social issues.”
This is the epitome of cowardice and foolishness; social issues turn into policies that very quickly infringe on individual rights, religious liberty, and will soon put our Christian children and grandchildren under persecution in the years to come.
We the people must actively support and fight for the very foundations of our society, Biblical principles enforced by government and the authority of the U.S. Constitution.
Are we as a people so content and complacent in our luxurious lives that we are satisfied with sitting back and watching biblical principles eroded, individual and religious freedoms taken, and innocent unborn children brutally murdered with tax payer dollar?
Do not be deceived into thinking this is anything but what it is—a battle between good and evil. It is long past time we reflect carefully on the words of our founders in the declaration of independence.
“When, in the course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bonds which have connected them with one another, and to assume… the separate and equal station to which the laws of nature and of nature’s God entitled them…they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.”
