CROWDER—Cameron moved within one win of the Class A state tournament with a pair of wins in the regional tournament on Thursday.
The Yellowjackets opened with a 2-0 win over Crowder behind Samuel Humphries’ strong pitching effort before Dillon Jackson and Blaise Lomon teamed up on a two-hitter in the second game for a 7-2 win over Okay.
Humphries went the distance in the win over Crowder, allowing six hits while striking out nine. The Jackets scored both their runs in the second inning while blanking Crowder.
Lomon was 2-3 with a double while Trey Sebo and Michael Nafaratte both doubled for Cameron.
In the second win, Jackson pitched the first five innings and struck out 10 while allowing only two hits before Lomon threw the final two innings, giving up no hits and striking out six.
Jackson helped his cause by going 3-4 and scoring three runs. Humphries went 2-4 with three RBI, a run scored and a double and Lomon was 1-1 with two RBI.
