SEMINOLE—Wister split a pair of games with Class 4A opponents here on Saturday.
The Wildcats, now 12-2 and ranked eighth in 2A, opened with a 5-2 win over Seminole, 19th in 4A, before losing 8-0 to Sulphur, 17th in 4A.
In the opener against Seminole, Wister scored five runs in the third inning and made it hold up against the Chieftains, now 6-6.
Scotty Gibson threw the first six innings for the Wildcats, allowing three hits and striking out nine. Cash Balentine finished up for Wister.
Jake Sconyers had a triple while Wes Wisdom and Kolton Lynn both doubled to lead Wister’s hitting attack.
Sulphur scored three runs in the first adding, added a solo run in the third before putting three more runs on the scoreboard in the fifth and one in the sixth.
Bryar Ward started for Wister and got the loss. Wisdom, Lynn, Gibson and Koby Midgley got hits for the Wildcats.
Wister, the top seed in the baseball LCT which starts on Monday, opens play in the tournament against the Pocola/Howe winner at 7 p.m. at Howe.
