Whitesboro sweeps games at Smithville
SMITHVILLE—Whitesboro swept a pair of games over Buffalo Valley and Smithville in a three-way slow-pitch softball games on Monday.
The Lady Bulldogs defeated Buffalo Valley, 4-3, and got a run-rule win over Smithville, 11-0, in three innings.
In the early game, Smithville defeated Buffalo Valley, 10-8.
Buffalo Valley scored all three runs in the first inning against Whitesboro while the Lady Bulldogs scored a run in the first inning and added three more in the fifth inning. All games were scheduled for five innings.
For Whitesboro, Abigail Phillips was 2-3 with a double, two RBI and a run scored, Lauren Harper knocked in a run and was 1-2, Lexey Branscum and Mariah Frederick were both 1-2 with a run scored, Molly Young had a 2-3 game with a run scored, Bailee McConnell was 1-2, Emily Wall went 1-3, Breanna Gibson had a RBI and Harper was the winning pitcher.
In the game against Smithville, the Lady Bulldogs scored three runs in the first and added eight runs in the second.
Harper got the win, allowing two hits only facing 11 batters in three innings.
For Whitesboro, Gibson hit a three-run homer and a two-run homer and knocked in five runs while scoring twice, Wall was 1-1 with a double, one RBI and a run scored, Amanda Carver scored a run and was 1-1, Branscum scored twice and knocked in two runs and went 2-3, Hope Sisemore was 1-2 with a run scored, McConnell went 1-2, Frederick had a double with two RBI and two runs while going 1-3, Young was 1-3 with a RBI and run scored and Harper scored a run.
