Lexi Wooten smashed a long home run in the first inning to give Poteau a 2-0 lead over Heavener.
From that point on, it was all Heavener as the Lady Wolves pulled away for a 13-2 run-rule win over the Lady Pirates.
Both teams head to the regional tournaments next (see STORY) with Heavener set to play Muldrow at Sequoyah Tahlequah on Thursday and Poteau playing Broken Bow at Jenks on Wednesday.
After Wooten’s blast, Heavener answered with five runs in the bottom of the first to take the lead for good. The Lady Wolves added two more runs in the bottom of the second and six more in the third.
Kendra Davis went 3-3 for Heavener with a pair of doubles and two RBI while Lily Friedl was 2-2 with two doubles and two RBI, Lexi Moody had a 2-2 game with two RBI, Cheyenne Cranfield was 2-2 with three runs scored, Jodie Hill had a 2-3 game with a double and two runs and Elyssa Turner was 1-2 with two RBI.
