Heavener’s girls could have had a letdown in Monday’s game with Pocola.
The Lady Wolves were playing in their first game since winning the softball LeFlore County Tournament with two wins over Pocola.
But after spotting Pocola an early lead, it was all Heavener as the Lady Wolves got home runs from Kendra Davis, Jodie Hill and Erica Lemay in an 11-3 win.
Pocola took a 3-1 lead in the top of the second after scoring three runs with a two-run double by Summer Perkins being the big hit.
Heavener tied the score in the bottom half of the inning as Lemay’s double scored two runs.
After that, it was all Heavener. Davis slammed a three-run home run in the bottom of the third as the Lady Wolves scored four runs to take the lead for good.
Hill knocked one over the fence in the bottom of the fourth to score a pair of runs and Heavener added a run in the fifth on Elyssa Turner’s double and finished off the game by run rule in the sixth with Lemay’s solo shot.
Heavener improves to 25-4 with the win going into the district tournament on Wednesday at Roland with the hosts and Locust Grove.
Lemay was 3-3 with three RBI and two runs to lead Heavener. Hill, Cheyenne Cranfield and Davis were all 2-3 while Turner finished 2-2.
Courtney Hargrove was 2-2 to pace Pocola, which hosts Panama and Central Sallisaw in the Lady Indians’ district on Thursday.
