HOWE—Funeral services for Charles “Clayton” Smith, 78, of Howe are Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Heavener First Baptist Church with Brother Sam Dyer officiating.
Burial will follow at the Ellis Chapel Cemetery in Wister, under the direction of Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home of Heavener.
He was born Feb. 28, 1937 in Sloney to Alfred Harry Smith and Zillie Lorene (Hill) Smith and passed away April 1, 2015 in Howe.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Tammy Lynn Smith; two sisters, Dora Bell and Edna Sumpter; and his wife of 41 years, Nan Smith.
He is survived by four daughters Lana Permenter and husband Mike of Poteau, Iris Husser and husband Alan of Heavener, Carol Mode and husband Frank of Heavener and Kathy Woolbright and husband Luther of Howe; two sons, Johnny Smith and wife Sheila of Houston, Texas and Joe Smith and wife Sandy of Red Oak; a brother, Junior Smith of Wister; a sister, Eva Smith of Poteau; 14 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren.
Pallbearers are Craig Kardokus, Shannon Ward, Ricky Crane, Rocky Crane, Todd Thompson and Rocky Makovy.
Viewing is Friday from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. with the family visiting with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
