POTEAU—The 2015 Cavanal Killer 8K Walk/Run will be held on May 9.
Registration time is 8 a.m. with the event starting at 9 a.m. The registration and parking is at the Poteau Primary School at 407 Hughes Drive.
The pre-registration deadline is April 22.
The goal of the Cavanal Killer 8k Walk/Run is to promote fitness and Cavanal Hill. This is not a race, although it is chip timed. In 2015, the committee has decided that no trophies will be given, however, the first 600 participants will receive a completion medal as they cross the finish line.
The early bird registration fee is $25. The late registration fee, after April 22, is $30. The fees include registration, t-shirt, completition medal, event lunch and one ticket to the spaghetti dinner. You must pre-register by April 22 to receive a t-shirt.
Medals are not included in packets and will be given to participants as they cross the finish line at the top of the hill. Participants must have official event bib number on in order to receive medal.
The pre-event spaghetti dinner will be held at the Donald W. Reynolds Community Center on May 8 from 6 to 8 p.m. At this dinner, you can pick up your registration packets. Additional tickets to the dinner can be ordered.
You are encouraged to wear comfortable walking shoes and clothing. Water will be provided at stations on the way, but participants are encouraged to bring their own. A light lunch will be provided at the top.
Transportation will be provided back down the hill. Runners are asked to start at beginning of line, walkers behind runners, anyone pushing a stroller or slower walkers please line up toward the back.
For the safety of the participants, organizers ask that you do not drive personal vehicles to the top of the hill or that you do not call and ask for personal transportation back down the hill.
Busses will be providing transportation from the top back to the Elementary School for both walkers and runners.
