WHITESBORO—Whitesboro split a pair of slow-pitch softball games here on Monday against Talihina and Buffalo Valley.
The Lady Bulldogs won the early game over Talihina, 12-1, in four innings before falling to Buffalo Valley in the later game, 11-6, in 10 innings.
Against Talihina, Whitesboro scored six runs in the first, added five in the second and one in the third for the run-rule win. Talihina scored its lone run in the third inning.
Lexey Branscum was 2-2 with a triple, two RBI and two runs for Whitesboro while Mariah Frederick went 2-2 with a triple, a RBI and two runs scored. Breanna Gibson banged out a double and was 2-2 with a RBI and two runs, Amanda Carver went 1-2 with two runs scored and a RBI, Abigail Phillips had a RBI and run scored while going 1-2, Molly Young knocked in two runs while going 1-2, Bailee McConnell was 1-2 with two runs, Samantha Simons went 1-1 with a RBI, Lauren Harper had two RBI and a run scored and Shania McKosky had a RBI.
Gibson was the winning pitcher.
Whitesboro took an early lead in the second game by scoring four runs in the first and two in the fourth. Buffalo Valley scored three times in the first inning, added three more in the seventh to tie the score and added five in the 10th for the win.
Branscum was 2-4, Gibson went 2-5 with a RBI and run scored, Phillips had a 2-5 game with a RBI, Frederick scored a run while going 1-4, Young was 1-5, Harper had two RBI and a run scored, Carver knocked in two runs and McConnell scored a run.
