WILBURTON—Marten Timmermann hit five 3’s, including three in the fourth quarter, as Howe stayed alive in the 2A area tournament with a 60-50 win over Central Sallisaw on Thursday afternoon.
The Lions advance to Saturday’s game against the winner of the Summit Christian and Haworth game, which is being played on Friday night.
Leading 36-31 going into the fourth quarter, Howe got the three 3’s from Timmermann, all from deep in the corner, to keep Central from getting close in the final period. Robert Trotter also scored all seven of his points in the fourth quarter as the Lions outscored Central 24-19 in the final frame.
Early on, it appeared like Howe would run away as the Lions led 21-7 in the second quarter before they went through a cold stretch and Central made a game of it.
Timmermann finished with 17 points to lead Howe. Gaven Brown added 14 points and Josiah Mitchell added 12.
Central was led by Austin Brown’s 16 points while Shade Nofire added 11.
