Howe jumped out to an early lead over Heavener in the slow-pitch softball openers for both teams on Monday.
The Lady Lions built a 4-0 lead before Heavener brought out the power and the Lady Wolves went on to take a 12-4 win.
Jodie Hill hit a two-run home run, part of a five-run rally in the bottom half of the second inning, Lexi Moody smashed a three-run homer in the fifth and Erica Lemay’s homer brought in three more in the bottom half of the sixth.
Heavener is at Gans on Tuesday while Howe is in the LeFlore Tournament, starting on Thursday.
Howe scored a pair of runs in both the first and second innings to take the 4-0 lead. Macee Williams had a pair of hits and knocked in two runs for the Lady Lions.
Heavener responded in the bottom half of the inning with six hits, including Hill’s blast to center. Makayla Cheek hit a bases-loaded double to bring in the first three runs.
Neither team could score again until Heavener used Moody’s homer in the bottom of the fifth to up the lead to 8-4.
In the bottom of the sixth, Lily Friedl and Elyssa Turner led off with hits before Lemay drove one over the left-field fence. Hill later scored after a double on a single by Cheyenne Cranfield.
Cranfield finished 3-3 while Hill was 3-4 with two RBI and scored three runs. Moody was 2-4 with three RBI, Turner and Lemay were both 2-3 and Cheek drove in the three runs.
Williams finished 3-3 for Howe with two RBI and a run scored. Abby Davidson was 2-3 with a run scored.
