Kendra Davis slammed a three-run home run as Heavener overcame an early deficit and defeated Hartshorne 10-5 on Monday afternoon.
The win improves Heavener, which moved up to No. 5 in the latest okrankings.com poll, to 8-1 on the season going into Tuesday’s games at Keota against the Lady Lions and Red Oak.
Hartshorne had just tied Heavener at five after the top of the fifth inning when the Lady Wolves put the game away with five runs in the bottom half of the inning, three coming on Davis’ blow over the left-center field fence.
Jacee Manley led off the inning for Heavener and got on with an error. She scored on a single by Jodie Hill, who also scored on a hit by Cheyenne Cranfield. Lexi Moody walked, setting the stage for Davis’ long blast.
Hill hit a solo homer for Heavener in the third inning and was 2-3 with two runs scored and a pair of RBI. Cranfield was 3-3 with two runs scored and a RBI while Elyssa Turner and Mattison Place also had a pair of hits in the win.
Cranfield was the winning pitcher for Heavener, whose only loss came against top-ranked Sequoyah Tahlequah in the Oktaha Tournament on Saturday. Hartshorne grabbed a 2-1 lead in the third inning with the Lady Wolves tying the score in the bottom half of the inning.
Hartshorne drops to 6-3 with the loss.
