POTEAU—Funeral services for Caden Alexander Place, 5, of Poteau are Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Donald W. Reynolds Center in Poteau with Bro. Sam Dyer officiating.
Burial will follow at the Oakland Cemetery in Poteau, under the direction of Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home of Heavener.
He was born Sept. 8, 2009 in Talihina to Jarrod and Rachel (Skelton) Place and departed this life March 21, 2015 in Poteau.
He enjoyed playing with his brother, sister, and his dog, Precious, and riding his 4 wheeler. He was super hero in a little boy’s body and a huge inspiration to so many people.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Norval Duane Place, Sr.; his maternal great-grandmothers, Patsy Brown, Betty Jo Davis and Betty Jean Robinson; his maternal great-grandmother, Norma Mattox; his paternal great-grandfathers, Norval Eugene Place and Tommy Joe Bailey; two cousins; Nicolette Paige Barton and Zarteshia Riddley, and a family friend, Leland Turman.
He is survived by his parents of the home; a sister, Corley Place of the home; a brother, Camdyn Place of the home; maternal grandparents Arminda Morales and husband Jesus Chuy of Heavener, and Gene Skelton and wife Melba of Hodgen; paternal grandmother, Risé Place of Howe; maternal great grandparents, Gilly Robinson and companion Betty Burns of Heavener, and Bill Skelton and wife Debbie of Hodgen; paternal great-grandmother Ione Place of Poteau; five maternal aunts Brianna Riddley and husband Phineas of Amarillo, Texas, Jaime McKinney and husband Brad of Panama, Billie Jo Skelton of Poteau, Jessica Henderson-Morales of Poteau and Gwenda Skelton of Hodgen; two maternal uncles Gunnar Mangrum of Poteau and Gene Allen Skelton, Jr. of Hodgen; three paternal uncles Wayne Place and wife Nikki of Poteau, Matt Place and wife Gina of Owasso and Mark Place and fiancée Holly of Howe; and a maternal great-uncle Preston Robinson and wife Kim of Heavener.
Pallbearers are Gunnar Mangrum, Connor Place, Trey Place, Gene Allen Skelton, Jr. and Kaleb Place
Viewing is from noon until 9 p.m., on Sunday and 8 a.m. until 9 p.m., on Monday and Tuesday at the funeral home. The family will visit with friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, also at the funeral home.
