Ruby (McLaughlin) Steelman of Heavener, 93, passed away on Feb. 2, 2015 in Poteau. She was born Dec. 11, 1921, in Hartford, Ark. to Pet and Daisey (Halford) McLaughlin, was a longtime resident of the area, a semstress and member of the Reichert Quilting Club.
Funeral services are Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Pilgrim’s Rest Baptist Church with Brian McLaughlin officiating. Burial will follow in the Reichert Cemetery, under the direction of Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home of Heavener.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hershel; one son, Lonnie Steelman; one grandson, Brett Bowles; one granddaughter, Judith Steelman; three brothers, Carl McLaughlin, Paul McLaughlin, and Watson McLaughlin; and two sisters, Opal Owens, and Lillie Steelman.
She is survived by two daughters, Charlotte Steelman and Racine Steelman, both of Dallas; six sons, McCoy Steelman and wife Barbara of Peggs, Larry Steelman and wife Betty of Reichert, Mackie Steelman and wife Brenda of Reichert, Gary Steelman and wife Rhonda of Reichert, Curtis Steelman and wife Pam of Reichert and Robin Steelman and wife Becky of Reichert; one daughter-in-law, Jackie Steelman of Reichert; two sisters, Velma Nobles of Hot Springs, Ark. and Rose Chaney and husband Henry of Heavener; a brother, Tom McLaughlin and wife Lydia of Corydon, Ky.; 22 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; and eight great great grandchildren.
