Robert Giles Holt, 84, of Heavener passed away on Friday, Feb. 6, 2014 in Vian. He was born Feb. 4, 1931 in Stillwell to John William and Etta (Gore) Holt.
He was a longtime resident of Heavener and a member of the Heavener First Christian Church. He and his family were owners of the Holt Telephone Company for many years, owned and operated the Appliance Center in Heavener, also served as a member of the Heavener School Board and later worked for Heavener Public Schools. In his later years he was a greeter at the Wal-Mart in Poteau. He was also a member of the Heavener Lions Club and the Good Sam’s Club.
Funeral services are Monday at 11 a.m. Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home Chapel with Joe Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in the Heavener Memorial Park, under the direction of the Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home of Heavener.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Carlene Holt.
He is survived by a daughter, Pam Terry, of Groesbeck, Texas; a son, Stephen Holt and wife Teresa of Tulsa; three grandchildren, Crystal Senzig, Bree Proe, and Shea Holt; and three great grandchildren, Ryan, Richie and Maelynn.
Pallbearers are Ralph Perdue, Jr., Andy Perdue, Eddie Freeman, Cody Huie, Shea Holt and Tim Hayes.
Viewing is Sunday from 9 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
