A group of Heavener Elementary students participated in the OkMEA sponsored Circle the State With Song this weekend.
This choral festival involves over 4,000 elementary students and is held in 19 regions across the state during January and February each year.
Heavener had 16 students selected to perform in the Broken Bow festival. These students were required to learn eight choral pieces written in two and three part form and some in foreign languages.
They have been practicing after school beginning in August. The group of students traveled Friday to Broken Bow and joined other schools from our region, forming a choir of 200 students to put on a concert showcasing the music they had learned on their own.
