POTEAU–Jack Davis’ body was found Sunday on Cavanal Hill, according to a news release from the LeFlore County sheriff’s department.
On Sunday at approximately 1:30 p.m., the Leflore County Sheriff’s Office received a call that a body had been found on Cavanal Hill.
Responding units located the body of a elderly white male, who was later identified as Davis.
Davis had been reported missing from Poteau and a Silver Alert issued on Tuesday afternoon.
His vehicle had been located on Cavanal Hill in the later afternoon hours on Tuesday and an extensive ground and air search was conducted for two days with no results.
Davis was found in a deep ravine and a recovery was made by members of the Leflore County Sheriff’s Office, Poteau Police Department, Poteau Fire Department and Leflore County Emergency Management.
Davis’s body has been sent to the State Medical Examiners Office in Tulsa for autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
Davis, originally from Heavener, played college football at the University of Oklahoma and Arizona before playing one season with the Denver Broncos.
Davis then coached at schools in Arizona and California before retiring.
