Reba Dean Baker, 84, of Heavener passed away on Thursday, Dec. 4, 2014 in Fort Smith. She was born April 30, 1930, in Heavener to Elmer Monroe and Zella Mae (West) Taylor and was a lifelong resident of Heavener.
She attended Heavener Public Schools and was of the Assembly of God Faith. As a young mother, she lived at Stapp-Zoe and made sure her children attended church, where at the time was Stapp-Zoe Baptist Church. As a young wife, she was very helpful in running their family sawmill business. After the death of her husband David, she continued running the family business of furnishing the area chicken farmers with wood shavings.
Funeral service are Saturday at 3 p.m. at Heavener First Baptist Church with Bro. Sam Dyer and Rev. Lance Ashmore officiating. Burial will follow in Hodgen Cemetery, under the direction of Dowden-Roberts Home of Heavener.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Davis.
She is survived by six sons, Tommy Baker and wife Retta of Wister, Bobby Baker and wife Deborah of Norman, Ronny Baker and wife Karen of Heavener, Vic Baker and wife Marcy of Spiro, Gary Baker of Spiro and Keith Baker of Heavener; a sister, Iona Parker of Poteau; three brothers, Howard Taylor and wife Gorgia of Heavener, Robert Taylor of Poteau and Hugh Taylor of Heavener; 10 grandchildren, Rusty Baker and wife Nicky, Beth Born and husband Don, Ronny Baker, Shirley Terry and husband Billy Shawn, Cheree Baker, Deanna Jennings and husband Dean, David Baker and wife Marilyn, Roger Baker and wife Tammera, Josh Baker and Jeremy Baker; 25 great grandchildren, Emma, Steven, Sara, Lincoln, Easton, Kaelly, Tyler, Madison, Katie, Kylie, Kacie, Skylnn, Colton, Chandi, Deandra, Jacob, Phillip, Cynthia, Patrick, Lanina, Calvin, Holland, Roger, Jr., Tiffany and Rachelle; six great great grandchildren, Kade, Kanyon, Kinley, Samuel, Zane and Leveah; three sisters-in-law, JoAnn Adams of Heavener, Sue Adams of Heavener and Jana Baker of Heavener; and her best friend, Tish Livesay of Heavener.
Pallbearers will be her sons, grandsons and nephews.
Viewing is from 9 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. The family will greet friends from 5 to 8 p.m.
