The Kiamichi Area Nutrition Project, Inc. (KANP, Inc.) has funding to held fund relief for grandparents raising their grandchildren.
KANP, Inc. is funded through the Older Americans Act and also by the state of Oklahoma, DHS-Aging Services Division.
The funding is to assist grandparents who are sometimes unable to get out and do things because they are caring for or raising a grandchild.
The number of grandparents raising grandchildren in the seven counties KANP, Inc. serves and also through the state is growing each year, but there is assistance for grandparents aged 55 and older with grandchildren under 18.
The KANP, Inc. Respite Voucher program can provide up to $400 a quarter to allow the grandparents to secure and pay someone to stay with their grandchild while they are out of the house.
