WISTER—Despite not having played a game in some two weeks, Heavener showed little sign of rust in winning both games over Wister here on Tuesday.
The Lady Wolves took the opener, 48-23, while Heavener’s boys got some clutch shooting down the stretch by Dillion May to win the nightcap, 45-35.
Heavener hosts Idabel on Saturday in the home openers while Red Oak is at Wister on Thursday.
Heavener’s girls improved to 3-1 with the win over the Lady Wildcats. The Lady Wolves dominated three of the four quarters with Wister outscoring Heavener in the third quarter.
The Lady Wolves got the running game going early and Wister had trouble coping with Heavener’s speed. Jodie Hill poured in 17 points while Makenzie Wilson added 13.
Kyla Brown had eight points for Wister, which won the third-place game in the Green Valley Conference Tournament on Saturday.

After controlling the first half, Heavener saw Wister make a run in the second half to make things a little uncomfortable for the Wolves.
Heavener built the lead to 12 points early in the fourth quarter after baskets by Corry Duncan and Colt Dunigan.
The Wolves failed to score for over four minutes and Wister started coming back and used a 7-1 run to trim the lead to six points after Heavener missed six straight free throws.
May came through for the Wolves, hitting six straight from the charity line over the final 42 seconds to clinch the win.
Heavener improves to 2-1.
