Elizabeth Sue Turman, 74, of Heavener passed away on Dec. 1, 2014 in Heavener. She was born April 4, 1940 in Stilwell to Cullus Houseberg and Florene (Stowe) Carpenter, was a long-time resident, a member of the First Christian Church, involved in various community activities, a former Girl Scout and Heavener Twirler lead and the Heavener Woman of the Year in 1992.
Funeral services are Friday at 10 a.m. at Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home Chapel with Phillip Routen officiating. Graveside service is Friday at 2 p.m. at the Stilwell Cemetery with Jim Robbins officiating, under the direction of Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home of Heavener.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard Dale Turman; two brothers, Cullus Joe Houseberg and Robert “Bobby” Lee Houseberg; and one granddaughter, Ashli Brooke Jordan.
She is survived by two daughters, Robin Jordan and husband Bruce of Nowata, and Rikki Piggee and husband Casey of Tulsa; a son, R.D. Turman, Jr. and wife Felicia of Heavener; two sisters, Sandy Kay Houseberg Robbins of Dry Creek and Raylene Carpenter of California; two brothers, Sammy Clyde Houseberg of Hawaii and Johnny Thompson of Kansas; and two granddaughters, Kiley and Bailey Turman.
Pallbearers are Robert Stout, Steve Allen, R.J. Robbins, Bruce Davis, Ted Heth and Jimmy Robbins.
Viewing is Wednesday and Thursday from 8 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. The family will greet friends Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
