Friday night was Halloween and while the thrills were few for Heavener in its non-district game with powerful Beggs, it was a nightmare for the Wolves.
Heavener fumbled nine times, losing four, threw an interception and lost to the Demons, 44-6.
Beggs, a team which was plenty good enough to win without any help, turned a tight game into a blowout by scoring 37 points in the final 7:48 of the second quarter to build a 44-0 lead at halftime.
The Demons received plenty of help as the Wolves couldn’t hold on to the ball. After Beggs increased its lead to 14-0, the kickoff bounced off a Heavener player and the Demons recovered.
Beggs scored again. Heavener turned the ball over again, giving Beggs a short field and another touchdown, followed by another turnover and score. The Demons added a touchdown on a fumble recovery and the rout was on.
Heavener scored its only touchdown with 10:08 left in the fourth quarter on a 20-yard run by Trey Grubbs. Dillan Stallings was the Wolves’ leader, rushing for 135 yards on 24 carries.
Beggs improves to 8-1 and will play for the 3A-6 district championship on Friday against Checotah. The loss drops Heavener to 2-7 and the Wolves close out the season at home against Idabel.
Beggs is now 3-0 all-time against Heavener with the two previous wins coming in the playoffs.
