Senior Night is typically a game players, coaches, fans and cheerleaders remember fondly.
That probably won’t be the case for the this year’s seniors. Idabel totally dominated Heavener on Friday, winning 58-7 to close out the 2014 season.
Like most of the teams Heavener has played down the stretch,
Idabel had too much speed and weapons for the Wolves to contain, allowing the Warriors to score over 50 points for the fifth time this year.
Idabel advances to the playoffs on Friday, third-place finishers in 3A-8 with an 8-2 record overall, 4-2 in the district. The Warriors will visit Westville in the first round of the playoffs. In other district games, Roland downed Eufaula, 39-35, to win the district, Spiro blasted Valliant, 47-7, and Victory Christian was too much for Stigler, 58-18.
In the playoffs next week, Spiro visits top-ranked Locust Grove, Sequoyah Claremore is at Eufaula and Sequoyah Tahlequah travels to Roland.
Idabel scored on its first two drives and got a gift for the third as Dillan Stallings had returned the kickoff and appeared to be out of bounds when an Idabel player stripped the ball and ran into the end zone.
The Warriors were ahead 26-0 when Heavener put together a drive and scored on a 1-yard run by Dillan Stallings to cut the lead to 26-7.
Idabel scored three more times before halftime to put the game away. In his final game, Stallings rushed for 85 yards on 17 carries to go over 900 yards for the season.
Stallings, Justin Page, Austen Adams, Koby Whiteis, Michael Glasco and Zach Hamner were Heavener’s seniors. The future does look good for 2015 with over 20 juniors expected to be back for their final season.
