HOWE–Herman “Smokey” Hampton, 92, of Howe passed away Nov. 1, 2014 in Poteau. He was born Feb. 15, 1922 in Booneville, Ark. to James and Isbell (Garner) Hampton, was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army and a retired logger.
Funeral service is Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Keith Stewart officiating. Burial will follow in the Howe Cemetery, under the direction of Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home of Heavener.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Dimple.
He is survived by a daughter Patricia Rogers and husband Jerry of Nashville, Ark.; two sons, Jerry Hampton and wife Debbie of Howe, and Troy Hampton and wife Bette of Poteau; two grandchildren, Mark Hampton of Shawnee and Beverly Tedford and husband Clinton of Nashville, Ark.; and three great grandchildren, Taryn, Olivia, and Julia.
Pallbearers are Ronny Blake, Jason Blake, Matt Blake, Chad Beams, Sam Sinclair, and Darrin Pitman.
Viewing will be from 8 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Monday.
The family will visit with friends from 6:00 p.m., to 8:00 p.m., Monday at the funeral home.
