Think your email inbox gets a lot of junk? You should see the Ledger’s email.
We do get a lot of good email, and that is certainly appreciated. But approximately 80 percent of the emails we get are junk.
Emails from people wanting us to use stories on stuff that are completely useless to us and our readers. We also get emails on manufacturing and shipping, which doesn’t do a lot of anything except get deleted.
For a while, we kept getting emails from somebody wanting donations to help with gays and lesbians. We were promised that by sending in a check, it would make a big difference! Uh, not going to happen.
We do get a lot of good information, however, such as the email from the NLRB on the election vote for a union at OK Foods getting tossed out. After seeing the email, I contacted a representative for OK to get their response. The story can be seen HERE.
Plus, we get a lot of school news and pictures, along with obituaries, letters to the editors and a lot more. So it is still valuable, I just wish we could stop a lot of the junk.
I went to cover the Heavener Utilities Authority and city council meetings last night, but they were canceled due to a lack of a quorum.
Joey Clubb and Gail Nichols were there, but the other members were out of town.
I’m sure this has happened before, but I can’t remember it.
I plan to cover the Talihina and Morrison football game tonight, at least if the weather stays good. I will do updates on this game along with the Panama and Adair playoff game on the Journal’s Facebook page if you are interested.
The temperature is supposed to be good, but there is a chance of rain and storms. As I wrote yesterday, it still can’t be as bad as the second round of games last year.
Hopefully both county teams will win and advance to next week. Panama would likely host top ranked and defending state champion Davis if that happens.
Deer season starts on Saturday. I am one of the few males in the county who does not hunt or go to deer camp, except to socialize.
We would like to have your deer pictures and I also want to do a special on heavenerledger.com with your favorite deer stories, along with pictures. Please send the information by email to [email protected] so we can compile the information. I think this could be interesting.
Have a good day and weekend.
